W.W.Worthington Memorial Trophy |
The 2008 competition will be held in Derby Cathedral on the 20th September 2008.The Draw will take place in the Beddoes Room in Derby Cathedral at 12.45 pm. The test piece will be a plain course of Cambridge Surprise Royal and as usual each team will have 30 minutes to adjust ropes, have a practice ring and complete their test piece. Prior to the test piece each team will signal the judges by 2 whole pulls of rounds on the front six. Car Parking has been arranged with the Cathedral Authorities for spaces to be reserved in their car park on St Michael's Lane, (about a 3 minutes walk away). However, the General Secretary will need numbers in advance. Unfortunately, the cost will be £3 per car but the car park is “manned” until about 5 pm. Car Parking will only be reserved up to 2 pm after that time the spaces will be released. You pay the commercial rate in the Cathedral Car Park but will be guaranteed the space. Please pay the car park attendant. Derby is centrally located with good public transport links:- bus, train and plane. For non-ringers there are shops, museums and maybe a football match! Light refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon in the Beddoes Room located in the Cathedral. More substantial refreshments are available from other commercial venues nearby; the Cathedral Centre, the Dolphin, Standing Order (J.D.Wetherspoons). The Derby CAMRA City Pub of the Year 2008 is the Babington Arms (Probably the best Wetherspoons in the world?) on Babington Lane, which is a short walk from the Cathedral. Two of the runners up (Flowerpot and Smithfield) also nearby, the third being the Brunswick, near the station. Evensong at the Cathedral is at 5.15 pm. To compete in the competition, please print and complete the entry form or this pdf version. |
